“The best way to learn games is to play games. The best way to make games is to work.” – Alan Emrich
Part I: Class Homework
Re-read the Review Sheet (particularly the parts that were sped past during the lecture) and peruse the Required Reading assignments for this week. While you should be focusing your energy on progressing your Graded Course Project (see below), you will need to keep up with the required readings!
Part II: The Graded Course Project
Keep working according to your Team’s Production Schedule!
- Producers should be completing the marketing research on your game proposal and starting writing up that section of the Pitch Packet. They should also keep the rest of the Team on track with their respective duties (in particular, keeping a close eye on the development of the game's Design Document).
- Lead Artists should be creating the game's artwork. There are some good articles in the Optional Readings section this week that you should particularly examine.
- Technical Directors should start drafting their Technical Design Document and Top 5 Problems section of the Pitch Packet. They should also be working with their Lead Writer / Designer on developing the User Interface Flowchart.
- Lead Writer / Designers should be busily outlining all of the gameplay elements of the game that will go into creating the Design Document elements of the Pitch Package.
Part III: Second Exam
Be sure to review the material from Weeks 3 and 4 (Review Sheets, chapter 12, plus the web site's Required Reading). There will be an exam next week covering that material. It is worth 25 points.
