Modern Naval Battles box coverIn February of 1990, 3W reprinted Modern Naval Battles. The new edition of the rules was simply a re-edit of the older edition, but some corrections still need to be made:

Modern Naval Battles Errata

6.1.B
...(i.e., to create a new single ship, first row). Nor will moving a ship back a row "push" any ships already in that row backward. If the last ship in a row is moved, the ships located in the row(s) behind it are moved forward to fill the gap.

In the Example: For the "wrong" example, the arrow should be pointing to the Hayler, not the Kashin.

7.16
Second paragraph, left edge: change "Cove" to "Cover."

8.2
Add on to the end of the paragraph: "All Point Defense cards must be played before any Point Defense die rolls are thrown."

8.34
...There is a timing element. Area Defense ASW sinks submarines before they execute their attacks. Point Defense ASW is a counterattack conducted after the submarines have launched their attacks.

11.1
Fourth line, towards the left edge: change the word "hand" to "round."

13.2
Change the cost (line 5): from two (2) Fog of War to one (1) Fog of War.

13.3
The "*" not should read: "Ignore restrictions when using the Air Module in Modern Naval Battles III."

Definitions of Terms and Abbreviations
DDG: Guided Missile Destroyer (a DD with increased missile capability).

PPG: (The ship listed between FF and SSN) should be FFG

2nd Edition Clarifications and Notes:
Note that 3W did a 2nd edition of MNB and excluded the developer, Alan Emrich, from the process. The following mistakes were made:

bulletThe Phases in the Sequence of Play were renumbered. However, 3W failed to update many cross references. Almost everywhere, for example, the reference to step "D.3" should be "D.4". Similar problems exist for references to other subphases of step D.2.
bulletThe timing element of ASW defense is incorrectly explained. Point Defense counterattacks a submarine after the submarine attacks. Area Defense counterattacks a submarine before the submarine attacks. In either case, the submarine is considered active.
bulletThe last part of advanced game rule 12.3 refers to 12.2 as an optional rule. It is actually an advanced rule.
bulletThe "Definitions of Terms and Abbreviations" contains so many ridiculous typos. It explains how a "DDG" is a "frigate" and an "SS".
