Shogun Player Aid

The Player Aid display from the Milton Bradley game Shogun (rereleased as Samurai Warrior) is shown above. Note that this game employs the Shitloada Dice method of combat resolution using handfuls of twelve-sided dice. If a unit rolls its combat value or less (also shown in the Combat Sequence), it scores a hit and an enemy piece must be removed (of the enemy player’s choice, with Daimyos, who lead the armies, always being lost last).

Under the Planning Guide, you can see the unit types available. The “units per koku” represents part of the economic model – a subject for next week’s lesson. (The koku are the coins in the game, each representing the value of rice sufficient to feed an adult male for one year). For each koku spent, the player purchases a certain number of each unit type.

The Sequence of Play is also shown in the Action Sequence and the Combat Sequence.
